How to sync your email account to gmail

Step 1.

In your browser, go to https://mail.google.com/ and sign in to your gmail account

Step 2.

Click the “Settings” cog wheel, and click “See all settings”.

Step 3.

Click “Accounts and Import”

Step 4.

In the “Send mail as” section, click “Add another email address”

Step 5.

Enter the email address you are syncing with gmail. Then hit “next step”

Step 6.

  1. Enter your SMTP server address: mail.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain with your domain name)
  2. Enter your username (this is your email address)
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Change the port to 465
  5. Keep “Secured connection using SSL” checked.
  6. Click “Add Account”

Step 6.

Now you will receive a confirmation email at the email account you are syncing.

Open a new window and go to your webmail portal at https://webmail.mywebsite.com and sign in using your email and password.

Enter this confirmation code in the box to verify ownership of your email account.

Step 7.

Now back in your gmail settings screen, next to “Check mail from other accounts”, click “Add a mail account”

Step 8.

Enter your email address and click “next”

Step 9.

Click “Next” again.

Step 10.

Enter the details as follows:

  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Your email password
  • Pop Server: mail.mywebsite.com (replace mywebsite with your domain name)
  • Port: Select port 995
  • Check “Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server”
  • Check “Always use a secure connection (SSL)”
  • Click “Add Account”

Step 11.

That’s it. Now you have your new email synced to your gmail. You can send and receive email under your email alias.

An important note: There can be a delay of a few minutes when receiving emails. This is because gmail will check for new emails every few minutes.
